Somersault inspires Students with a unique Virtual Work Experience Event

Somersault were delighted to provide a day of inspiration and insight for a group of Year 10 students from Swavesey Village College on Monday 5th July 2021.

Typically used to delivering a breadth of digital marketing, advertising and communications services to high profile and high ambition businesses, Somersault partnered with Cambridge based Form the Future to support potential employees of tomorrow.

The Virtual Work Experience initiative gave students what would otherwise have been yet another missed opportunity in what has been a challenging pandemic affected period for schools across the region.

Committing time and input team members from across the business, the students were exposed to the world of a busy marketing agency. From the day to day operations of running the business to the art of the possible when it comes to creating animations, managing finance, providing customer service, producing videos and virtual events.

The Students were then set an ‘Apprentice’ style challenge to create a suite of ideas in response to a real life brief, the launch of Somersault’s soon to open virtual events cafe space, The Green Room. They thrived in the opportunity to present back and share their ideas, with a few examples highlighted below:

Mary Steel, Work Experience Co-ordinator for Form the Future said:

“What a wonderful experience working with Somersault to help deliver a hugely successful virtual work experience day to 100 Year 10 students at Swavesey Village College. Students got a great insight into the world of digital and creative marketing and got the chance to demonstrate some brilliant creative skills with their project work”

Hannah Turner, Assistant Headteacher for Swavesey Village College said:

‚ÄúThe staff were pleased with how the students responded to the challenge and really enjoyed the set up. Thank you again to you and your team for running the day.”

Somersault Director, Simon Mills said:

“It’s a pleasure to provide such an opportunity for the local students. If we’ve managed to inspire just one of the year group to explore a future career in the world of a creative marketing agency then it’s been worth every second.”
