Work / Cambridge Broadband Networks Ltd

Showcasing the impact of tech with Smart City Case Study.

Cambridge Broadband Networks Ltd (CBNL) was established in the year 2000 when ten engineers from Cambridge University secured private equity funding to develop an innovative solution to the increased demand for mobile communications. From this vision, CBNL developed its VectaStar platform which has gone on to establish the company as the clear market leader in point to multipoint microwave. VectaStar networks are now deployed by service providers in over 50 countries for mobile backhaul, small cell backhaul, enterprise access and ISP networks. Customers include over 100 service providers, including seven of the world’s top ten mobile operators.

The challenge.

CBNL wanted to showcase their technology and network infrastructure and how it enabled a city in Poland to have access to fast, secure, affordable wireless broadband. Their wireless infrastructure was a huge success in the city of Rzeszow, producing over 500+ publicly accessible WiFi hotspots, helping to develop an integrated and intelligent transport system, as well as secure a city wide CCTV system. This had a huge economic impact on the city - and its one that CBNL were keen to replicate elsewhere.

The work.

The story for Somersault was simple - tell CBNL's results driven success story, showcase their technology and look towards how their technology could be implemented in to other areas in the future.

The outcome.

The case study film was originally a single output project. However, after the success of the Poland specific case study video, Cambridge Broadband Network approached us again to create a generic 'EU' adaptation of the film to appeal to a broader audience.
